THE WORLD – FLOATING OFFSHORE WIND FARM PROJECTS

1st Edition – June 2018

La Tene Maps is happy to announce the launch of the first edition of the “World – Floating Offshore Wind Farm Projects” map (FLOW). This is a new map from the company and compliments other world maps that the company has available on Offshore Wind and Wave and Tidal Projects.

This new map shows the distribution of floating wind projects around the world, by location together with the name of the site, site owner/operator. The color of the symbol indicates the status of the project (consented, under construction or built). The sheet has a world map showing areas where floating offshore wind farm projects are currently occurring together with inset maps of Europe, North America, and South East Asia.

The map is B1 size (700 x 1000mm), printed in full color and is available in a variety of formats including a print version, a version of this map without advertising which can be printed on demand and as a pdf file.

John Coleman, chief executive of La Tene Maps speaking on the release of the new map said

“As more and more offshore wind sites get developed new sites will be pushed into deeper waters. Currently in water depths greater than 50M the only option is to use floating wind. Whilst still in the experimental stage the last year has seen the start up of the Hywind array offshore Scotland of 5 spar devices with a generaging capacity of 30MW and more recently the deployment offshore France of the Floatgen semisubmersible 2MW device by Ideol. These represent two of five different platform technologies which are currently under development which should be installed over the next couple of years. Floating wind opens up vast areas of the world for offshore wind development including the Mediterranean Sea, the west coasts of America and Australia as wel as parts of Asia and Africa”.

The World Floating Offshore Wind Projects Map is to get its first public distribution at the “RenewableUK – Global Offshore Wind” conference and exhibition to be held in Manchester Central, Manchester, UK on Tuesday and Wednesday 19-20th June 2018. The map will be available from our stand (153) on both days. Thereafter the map will be available at the Hamburg Wind Conference and Offshore Energy Conferences in September and October respectively.
